Learn how Truckspy calculates your bill each month.
We calculate your invoice based on actual usage. This means that if you have a vehicle, driver or device active for part of the billing period then your invoice will automatically be pro-rated. Let's look at an example for our mileage compliance service (calculation methods are the same regardless of product being invoiced).
Our pricing for mileage compliance is $10 per active vehicle. In this example, the customer only has 8 vehicles active but the quantity shows 10 vehicles and the unit price is $9.42 (less than our pricing of $10 per vehicle). Quantity will always reflect the maximum number of active vehicles and unit price will be adjusted for the amount of time each vehicle was active.
In this case a truck number was changed mid-month resulting in two vehicles being counted in the quantity - one for the initial truck number and one for the new truck number. Since each truck was only active for part of the month the unit price was adjusted to reflect that. This is why it's less than our $10 per vehicle price. Here's how the calculation works:
Let's assume the truck was changed on day 15 of the billing cycle, which is halfway through the monthly billing cycle. The initial truck number will be billed at $5 and the new truck number at $5 for the billing cycle - each is billed as half the monthly price of $10. Then the price for each truck is summed like:
Vehicle Price 1 $10 2 $10 3 $10 4 $10 5 $10 6 $10 7 $10 8-old $5 8-new $5 Total: $80 |
On the invoice, this will be reflected as 9 vehicles with a unit price of $8.89 (9/$80).
💡Always remember, quantity is the total number of active vehicles at any time during the period and unit price is automatically calculated to reflect the amount of the time each vehicle was active.
